There will be a Host Club Meeting on June 22, 2023 via ZOOM starting at 7PM.

The second place team in each division typically is the host of the division the following year, except in the A Division, where the winner hosts the event (maximum of 2 years years in a row).

Host Club Responsibilities:

  1. The directions to the Host Club, the starting times, the proposed arrival time (i.e. 45-minutes ahead of tee-times), check-in location and practice times for each group. It will then be the responsibility of each club and their players to arrive at the right place at the right time
  2. The Local Rules for the day, including course boundaries, penalty areas/markings (red/yellow), selection of tees for each age group - see recommended yardages below. Note that the OVGA strongly supports the use of Summer Rules, but will leave the final decision in the hands of the Host Club. Take any expected weather into account and ensure that all visiting players are aware of the decision before the events starts.
  3. Decide the charge for pull carts: some Clubs offer pull carts at no charge, others ask for a small fee. Visiting Captains should identify what the possible requirements are prior to the Tournament date. No power carts are to be used for Junior events.
  4. The availability of a practice round: the practice round if available at all, may be offered at no charge, at a reduced rate or the players may be required to pay the Club’s standard fee. In addition, the Host Club may set aside a single date or block of times in which visiting players may take advantage of a practice round. These arrangements are entirely at the discretion of the Host Club and should be limited to only the ten players of a Visiting Team (including the alternates). Should a practice round be offered, the Captain or Coach of the Visiting Team should enquire about the process for taking advantage of this courtesy (who to call, how to pay if necessary, etc).
  5. The arrangements for refreshments during the matches: whether there is a beverage cart or half-way house. There will be no formal meal or presentation ceremony this year.
  6. Method of payment of any fees owing (e.g., carts, food, beverages, etc): the Coaches of the Visiting Teams should determine whether the Host Club operates on a cash system or if the Visiting Clubs will be billed one amount.
  7. HOST CLUB only – If beneficial to the pace of play, please have spotters at holes that could cause delays.

Recommended Tees / Yardages

Players will play from the following tees (as per provincial junior guidelines):

Boys, U19 – Tees should be between 6200 and 6400 yards

Boys, U15 – Tees should be between 5800 and 6000 yards

All Girls     - Tees should be between 5000 and 5400 yards

The above noted yardages are guidelines, and it is acknowledged that not every course has tees to match these yardages. The OVGA will work with the Host clubs to confirm the tees that should be used for the competition.
